Card 9 of the tarot is The Hermit.
Meaning according to Arthur Edward Waite- Prudence, also and especially treason, dissimulation, corruption, roguery. Reverse: Concealment, disguise, policy, fear, unreasoned caution.
Notes: Waite's meanings here are another weird one to me. I think of this card as a sort of retreat and rest card, similar to The Hanged Man, but different in the sense that The Hermit has separated himself from the issue for distance and a new perspective, whereas the Hanged Man is putting himself on pause while the issue is still before him, not wanting to jump to conclusions. The Hermit looks the most like a wizard, (though that role really belongs to The Magician) so I'm usually excited to see how artists depict this card.
