Card 1 of the tarot is The Magician.
Meaning according to Arthur Edward Waite- Skill, diplomacy, address, sickness, pain, loss, disaster, self-confidence, will, the Querent himself (if male). Reversed: Physician, Magus, mental illness, disgrace, disquiet.
Notes: One of my favorite cards in the tarot because he is basically the wizard (though the hermit usually looks more like a wizard.) The Waite interpretations of this are odd to me; it seems contradictory. I agree with the skill and diplomacy aspect though, especially considering the magician is using all four elements together.
